Born and raised in the city of New
York where the streets often evoked a spirit of gloominess, Katherine Rodriguez found a way to escape her immediate surroundings
through the art of writing. Her ambition to write poetry was developed more so as a form of expression and to achieve a sense
of freedom through written word. More often than not, writing became a driving force for her motivation and
self-empowerment. Influenced by the heavy urban hip hop culture, Katherine began to rap and sing R&B in her early teens.
She enjoyed being able to write her own music and after she realized the power of words and the influence music has on
people, her dream to become a performer was born. Her lyrics depicted inner city scenarios and yet gave purpose to every hardship.
She envisioned herself as one who, through her talents, could deliver a message of power and hope to those who struggle and at
times lack the faith to overcome. Although her love for music was evident, her exposure and perception of the industry was
not so great and therefore she shied away from several opportunities. She retained her talent but realized after
years that such a burning passion must be set free.
Today Katherine better known as "Kat" is
perfecting her craft and has obtained enough confidence to move full speed ahead with her vision! Incorporating short stories,
poetry, hip hop, R&B, soul, jazz, and gospel into her works, Kat offers a refreshing and well needed sound to the world.
Vision: To bring forth encouragement, enlightenment, and motivation to the masses through artistic and creative
talents. My hope is to establish an empire that will include publishing my own books, creating a line
of clothing that will display some of my poems, work in film, and of course release my music to the world! All of which are
currently in the makings.
