Born and raised in the city of New York where the streets often evoked a spirit of gloominess, Katherine Rodriguez found a way to escape her immediate surroundings through the art of writing. Her ambition to write poetry was developed more so as a form of expression and to achieve a sense of freedom through written word. More often than not, writing became a driving force for her motivation and self-empowerment. Influenced by the heavy urban hip hop culture, Katherine began to rap and sing R&B in her early teens.  She enjoyed being able to write her own music and after she realized the power of words, she evolved into "Ms.Poeticwisdom".

In December of 1997 she dared to venture into the world of publishing and self published her first book entitled "Poeticwisdom; the Poetry was a gift, the wisdom had to be earned". This exciting release was well received by many who instantly understood her words as they depicted inner city scenarios and yet gave purpose to every hardship. Although the book has not yet made the best sellers list, it is still considered to be “the little book that could" break many barriers in the world of poetry by captivating audiences throughout the world that thirst for a creative and powerful message.

Today, Katherine is expected to release an audio and electronic version of her book "Poeticwisdom" by September 2010. Katherine is also the Editing Manager and contributing writer for the newly published magazine "Prominence" which is expected to go global and make a great impact by the end of 2010. In addition to the poetry Katherine has branched out into the film industry, co-writing and co-producing her first short film entitled "Walking Maris' Way. The film is expected to make its debut by 4th quarter of 2010.  As a true visionary and writer with an entrepreneurial spirit, Katherine continues to seek new opportunities to establish herself as a renowned writer.
