Tuesday January 20th, 2009 is a day that made a dent in world history,
causing a break in traditional politics, and a breakthrough for the common American. A day when the minority became the majority.
A day when hopelessness re-gained its hope, and a day when our troublesome past as a nation lost its vicious grip on our faith
and revealed itself as being the very thing that made us stronger! On this day the United States of America inaugurated its
first African American president, and a leader well qualified and capable of bringing hope for a brighter future. As powerful as this election has been, I have to admit that I have never been interested
in politics nor have I ever followed it with any expectancy. Although I have a grim perspective on politics, I am not the
only one who shares this sentiment and like many others, I have been captivated by something very different this time around.
I have been captivated not by an image, but by a message. Not
by a powerful campaign, but by a powerful contribution to a people in need. I have been captivated by a President elect who
has yet to read a speech to us, and yet, has never stumbled
upon his words nor missed a point. By a man who has shown impeccable family values by consistently acknowledging his wife
and affectionately embracing his beautiful daughters every chance he gets. I have been captivated by the relentless passion
for positive change that is desired by so many. I have been captivated by someone who has not promised me change, but has
challenged me to
be a change agent! You see, sometimes all we need is great leadership to be reminded of the power that
we already have within ourselves to make a change. Someone to re-ignite those burning passions within us so that we may be
encouraged to work harder than ever to live our dreams. Someone that can illustrate the ability to accomplish anything by
working together. Yes we can!On this day, we all became president!
